At the end of the tour, the coach told the athletes that he had run some tests and “one of the guys was disqualified,” adding that his “testing numbers were awful,” at which point cameras caught Manning looking “On top of that,” he continued coach, “we found out he wasn’t qualified.”
Manning then stood in front of the other athletes competing and said, “I’m sorry,” as he began to remove his wig and prosthetics.
“I’m just a 41-year-old guy who just wants to play ball,” he said. “I’m just trying to get back out there.”
The men began to laugh and show visible shock at Manning’s revelation. He then said that he enjoyed playing with the students that day.
“I appreciate you letting me try it out with all of you,” Manning said, adding that it was “a lot of fun.”
