Nicole Kidman Recalls Taking Daughter Sunday to Her First Fashion Show: 'She’s Wanted to Go for a Long Time'

Nicole Kidman’s daughters are growing up — and we can’t wait for them to make their fashion show debut with their classy mom.

IN Vogue Australia interview published Aug. 2, Kidman, 57, spoke with Victoria Beckham about the moment daughter Sunday joined her for the 15-year-old’s first fashion show.

“She’s about to turn 16,” Kidman said of her daughter, who she shares with husband Keith Urban. “That’s what I told her, when she was 16 she was allowed to come to the performance. She had wanted to go for a long time.”

“That was her attempt, and that was it,” she continued of the Balenciaga event. “I say, ‘No, not anymore.’ It’s just a push and pull, I don’t want to hold her because I don’t want to pet her.”

Kidman also told Beckham that she and Urban, 56, are in the “same boat” as the former Spice Girl and her husband David Beckham, given that the couple “put a lot into the family and a lot of our social life doesn’t exist.” , and now we have to make new friends, go out more, say yes.”

“When you raise children, [you say] ‘I can’t actually go to that,’ or you’re sick and you cancel, or you have to work, and the only thing that’s going to fall is going out and making new groups of friends,” the Oscar winner continued.

“We’re older now — so we’re going, okay, we as a couple have to find our next step in the world, not just based on doing things as a family,” Kidman added.

In addition to Sunday, Kidman and Urban share a daughter, Faith (13). Kidman is also the mother of daughter Bella, 31, and son Connor, 29, who she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Kidman and Beckham talked about the key to their long-lasting marriages — the Beckhams have been married since July 1999, and Kidman and Urban married in 2006.

“People always ask, ‘What’s your marriage advice?’ We do not have!” Kidman joked. “Everyone does their own thing and creates them. I’m not some relationship guru.”

“It’s always trial and error, and sometimes it’s unbalanced and then it balances out. … We’re not gloating about that,” Big little lies the actress continued, noting that “compromise” is one thing the couple always tries to maintain.

Still, she revealed the best advice she received in her nearly two-decade marriage to Urbana.

“The biggest piece of advice I’ve been given is that there’s an individual – so there’s me and you – and there’s we. And that’s just you,” Kidman told Beckham. “No one else has what you two create, or what Keith and I create, any married couple who are partners, any people who choose to be in a relationship together, we create this, and we decide what this is.”

“If you really like that person – you really love them, but also them, God help,” she added.

Earlier this year, Kidman’s younger daughters made their red carpet debut in April 2024 with their parents at the AFI Lifetime Achievement Awards gala, where their mom was an honoree.

At the event, the actress joked, “You’ll have to ask them” when PEOPLE asked how her teenage daughters felt about coming to celebrate their mother’s success.

“I think they just want to start their own careers,” the actress continued of her daughters. “They’re here to support me, and they’ve been very supportive and incredibly loving.”
