The cast The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City it may look a little different this season, but the drama is just as explosive.
Tuesday’s season 4 premiere saw the return of veteran housewives Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Lisa Barlow and Whitney Rose, as well as new full-time housewives Monica Garcia and Angie Katsanevas.
But former housewife Jen Shah has remained the talk of the town, even though she is currently serving a five-year prison sentence for her role in a long-running telemarketing scheme.
During the premiere episode, Heather, 49, revealed she’s doing “surprisingly” well without Jen, 49, saying: “I feel like a weight has been lifted” now that Jen is in prison.
In the confessional, Bad Mormon the author admitted, “I felt like I couldn’t be honest with Jen. With everything going on in her life, the stakes were too high. It wasn’t the time to talk about our friendship and work on boundaries.”
She continued, “But now that he’s in prison, I feel like I can just close the door and move on.”

Earlier in the episode, Heather said she was under public scrutiny for her friendship with Jen. “I’ve learned that hate will always come, but right now I’m just trying to block the haters and live my life authentically for myself for the first time,” she added in the confessional.
And while Heather has apparently put last season’s drama behind her, the episode featured a dramatic flash-forward scene of the cast’s trip to Bermuda, which will air later this season. In the scene, Heather was heard answering a phone call that shocked her.
“Are you kidding me now? Shut up,” she told the caller, adding, “I can’t believe it’s her. How did we all fall for this? I don’t know who to believe anymore.” However, when RHOSLC producers entered Heather’s room to film the conversation, she immediately turned them away and slammed the bedroom door.

Tuesday’s episode also saw the return of Mary Cosby as a friend of the franchise. (Mary previously played a full-time housewife in seasons 1 and 2 before leaving the show.) She entered in true Mary fashion: walking into Meredith’s Park City store and checking out a compilation of some of her most infamous comments from past seasons, including ” Jen smells like the hospital” and “You can go, little girl.”
Mary, 50, and Meredith, 51, met for lunch, where they discussed each other’s family lives and briefly discussed Jen’s prison sentence.
“Look, there’s nothing more to say about it,” Meredith said to Mary. “She said she was guilty and would serve her sentence. Everyone can now start healing and move forward.”
Mary replied that she believed in karma, telling Meredith, “You get what you deserve.” She also added in the confessional: “I wonder what will happen now that Jen is gone. She was the big elephant in the room.”

Even in Jen’s absence, tensions were already simmering between the women, with new housemate Monica Garcia — who is Jen’s former friend — claiming to know “dark secrets” about her cast mates in the confessional.
Of her skepticism, she said: “It’s so crazy listening to them portray these perfect lives. We’ve all heard things about each other thanks to Jen. So it’s like I’m trying to walk this fine line of being open-minded and non-judgmental even though all their dark secrets are very heavy.”
Still, Monica said she wanted to make her own “assumptions” about women, despite Jen “never saying anything nice” to her about them. Everything that came out of her mouth was nonsense—, Monica added in the confessional.
‘RHOSLC’ trailer: Mary returns, Heather throws a ‘grenade’ and new woman sets her sights on Lisa and Meredith’s men
In the spirit of moving forward with women after a difficult last year, Heather organized a “Fresh Start Party” for the group. However, despite the benevolent organization of the event, there was a conflict between some women.
Meredith confronted Whitney, 36, at the party about comments Whitney made to reporters regarding her and her husband Seth’s bath scene from season 3. While Whitney admitted she was “suspicious” calling the couple bathing together “creepy” , Meredith felt “it was digging up my marriage and digging up my bathtub.”

Despite growing tensions with Whitney, Meredith took steps to mend her relationship with Lisa, telling her that she would like to “set us up for success, not failure” and meet one-on-one.
Lisa admitted in the confessional that she was surprised by Meredith’s effort, but said, “Let’s be honest, I know she missed me. I mean, I would have missed him too.”
The party ended in light banter between the women, though it quickly turned into a heated match that Heather jokingly compared to Lord of the Flies.
“Don’t mess with us,” Whitney yelled as Lisa yelled, “These hurt.”
Mary conveniently decided not to participate and asked, “What’s going on?” as she watched the women laughing and fighting with each other in the snow. – Are they having fun?
