Ray Romano's 4 Kids: Alexandra, Matthew, Gregory and Joseph

Everyone loves Ray Roman, including his children: Alexandra, Matthew, Gregory and Joseph.

Ray is a family man both on and off screen. While playing father to daughter Ally and twin sons Michael and Geoffrey for nine seasons on the CBS sitcom Everyone loves Raymondin real life, the actor has four children of his own, whom he shares with his wife Anna Romano, with whom he is more than 30 years older.

“I think they like that I get creative inspiration from them,” the Primetime Emmy-winning actor told PEOPLE of his family. “They read rough drafts of the script. My wife, not as much as my kids.”

The stand-up comedian doesn’t shy away from cracking jokes about his loved ones, all of whom appeared at the end of his 2019 Netflix comedy special. Ray Romano: Right here, around the corner.

“I know a lot of my material now is taking over the voice of my kids or my wife,” Ray said in one episode Good One: The Joke Podcast in 2021. He shared that he watched his children grow up to be like-minded people.

“Now that they’re human, I just interact with them more, and they actually have a point of view and something and a comment they want to make, and we can talk,” he continued. “It’s only natural that I write about it and play their part… Now I have more to play.”

According to Ray, his sons are fans of his jokes about them. “Guys love it,” the Somewhere in Queens said the director The Ellen DeGeneres Show 2019 “No matter what I say. They are my #1 fans.”

Ray and Anna welcomed their first child, Alexandra “Ally” Romano, on August 26, 1990, at St. Vincent in New York.

During the performance at Today show, Take Shorty the star admitted that he “became very nervous after the birth of the baby” and “didn’t do anything right”.

“I went to get them, the wife and the child, and [with my] a newborn in my arms, [I] go out [and say]’Where’s my van?’ I parked in the tow zone so we had to take a yellow cab to Queens,” Ray recalled. “My daughter came home in a yellow taxi.”

Ally was also the name of the actor’s daughter, played by Madylin Sweeten Everyone loves Raymond. He said that his first born was following him. “It’s actually kind of enjoyable,” he told PEOPLE in 2020. In his Netflix special, Ray Romano: Right here, around the cornerthe father of four joked that his daughter’s nickname is “the good one”.

During the performance at Live with Kelly and Mark in April 2023, Ray revealed that his daughter had become engaged. “There’s so much going on this week,” he said, referring to his film Somewhere in Queens. “[My daughter] she sends me a picture of her with the ring and my wife and I freak out and then all I can think is that I know my daughter. This movie must make a lot of money this weekend.”

On September 21, 2024, Alexandra married Zachary Wilezol at the New York Public Library, where the couple met and fell in love. Dad walked her down the aisle to a string rendition of Etta James’ “At Last.”

Alexandra, who studied at the University of Pennsylvania, did not follow in her father’s footsteps. “My daughter works for a PR company that deals with celebrity chefs and restaurants,” Irishman said the star Parade in 2023

Although she previously said she wanted “nothing to do” with her father’s industry, she may have changed her mind in the meantime. Roman’s eldest child is listed as a co-producer on Ray’s directorial debut, Somewhere in Queens.

In an Instagram post, Alexandra shared a sweet photo of herself with her dad, while revealing some behind-the-scenes details about how she worked with him on the project. She said it was several years in the works and although there were “a few emotional roller coasters”, she was so “proud and grateful” for the experience with him.

Ray got his wish twice over with the birth of his identical twin sons, Matthew and Gregory Roman, on January 12, 1993. Welcome to Mooseport star admitted to PEOPLE in 1996 that he was hoping for a son when his wife announced she was pregnant again.

“Anna called me after the sonogram,” he recalled, “and said, ‘Well, we’re having twins.’ I said, ‘Come on!’ She said, ‘Yes. Twin girls.’ I tried to sound happy, saying, ‘Oh. Good. Good.’ Finally she told me, ‘They’re boys, you jerk!’ That’s when I knew I loved her.”

The character of the actor in Everyone loves Raymond he also had twin boys named Matthew and Gregory in the first episode. According to Chicago Tribunehe worried that his work was imitating his life too much once production began, so he decided to change the boys’ names to Michael and Geoffrey.

While Ray’s real twins may not be the stars of popular sitcoms, they are no strangers to award shows. In 2002, Matthew and Gregory joined their father on stage as he accepted the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Male Television Performer. When he won again the following year, he brought his boys with him so they could give his acceptance speech on his birthday.

Matthew and Gregory have also appeared on talk shows with their famous dad, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Late Late Show with James Corden and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Matt worked at Jimmy Kimmel Live 2017, when his father hilariously tried to set him up on a date while appearing on the show. “Listen, ladies, he is a good child; a good listener. He keeps his room clean. He had all his recordings,” the comedian said to the camera.

Days later, Ray appeared on The Late Late Show with James Cordenwhere his other son, Greg, worked. Host James Corden tried to find Greg a date from the audience with the help of him and fellow guest Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Joseph “Joe” Romano is the youngest of Ray and Anna’s children. He was born in February 1998.

Describing her fourth child while on Tonight’s show In 2017, Ray said: “I never knew what this term meant, but I think it applies to him. He thinks he’s a dick—.”

He revealed to Jimmy Fallon on the show that a friend informed him that Joseph had become an ordained priest online. When he asked his son if he did, Joseph replied, “Pretty much.”

Ray joked to DeGeneres and Kimmel that he doesn’t know if Joseph is “the dumbest kid or maybe the deepest.” He explained to DeGeneres that his youngest child “might be the deepest because he says things that I just don’t know how to react to.”

The comedian made a joke about him during his Netflix special. “He brags about things you shouldn’t admit,” he said of Joseph. “The other day he walked through the kitchen and looked at us, ‘I haven’t showered in four days.'”

Spectators got to know Joseph better when he competed Celebrity Family Feud with his dad as well as his older brothers and uncle Bobby in 2020. A few years later, Ray revealed that his 2023 film.
