Savannah Guthrie’s Pals Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager Honor ‘Very Dear’ Today Co-Host on Her 52nd Birthday

Savannah Guthrie is celebrating her 52nd birthday!

The Today show host celebrated another remarkable year, and her co-host Hoda Kotb livened up the festivities with a playful announcement Wednesday morning.

“Let’s ride b-day girl!” Kotb, 59, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the pair in a cardboard cutout of a yellow taxi, with Guthrie holding “TAXI!” sign and Kotb posing with a paper Santa hat.

Jenna Bush Hager also showed off her friend and colleague with a series of photos on her Instagram Story.

“Happiest birthday @savannahguthrie!!!!” she began a series of five increasingly stupid shootings. “It’s fun raising babies with you! and dressing up in costumes! and going [the] American Girl restaurant??!”

She concluded: “The happiest for a loved one!”

Savannah Guthrie says her friendship with Jenna Bush Hager is ‘like family’

Guthrie managed to form close friendships with her Thaty off-screen team. Ahead of the birthday tribute on Wednesday, the journalist announced the lasting relationship she has established with Bush Hager, 42.

“Our kids are still friends. We’re just doing it now that she’s out of town, so we’re just planning the weekend and trying to see each other,” Guthrie told PEOPLE in March. “It was such a beautiful moment in time, those five, six, seven years that we were neighbors. Our children grew up together.”

“They were more like relatives than anything else,” she added. “Hal, her youngest, is my godson, so my kids like to call other kids their godbrothers and sisters. And it’s like family.”

This isn’t the first time Guthrie has opened up about her friendship with her co-host to PEOPLE. Back in 2018, she told PEOPLE that Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush, is “one of her closest friends.”

“We’re almost exactly 10 years apart, and 10 years ago when she married Henry, I was the fourth White House correspondent and I was assigned to cover her wedding,” Guthrie recalled. “It’s hilarious because there’s live footage of me talking about Jenna’s wedding.”

“Isn’t it beautiful and wonderful, the twists and turns in life?” she added. “Here I was, just a reporter, trying to find out anything about the wedding. Ten years later, she’s one of my closest friends.”

While celebrating five years in Today in January, Guthrie also spoke about the close relationship she also formed with Kotb.

“The stuff we show on TV is fun, but the stuff I like the most is the stuff that’s not on TV,” Kotb said. “I was just thinking about our morning this morning, and there are so many just like that, that happen before all the cameras come on, and we really become us.”

“We’re so happy,” Guthrie said. “You’re my soul sister, let’s do this together. You held my hand five years ago and we said, ‘Let’s do this,’ and this was the joy of life. Kudos to NBC for letting us do this and so have fun.”
